At the USC we practise kyukoshinkai karate according to the semi-contact rules of the World Karate Federation (WKF) and the Karate-Do Club Netherlands. This style is practised worldwide.
Match training focuses on kumite and sparring-up. You can train at your own speed. If you want you can be prepared for matches in kumite as well as kata.
It is very well possible to obtain your black belt during your study career. Our group is a nice mix of men and women, students and alumni. We train together and help each other. On a regular basis we meet besides the USC trainings.
Practising Karate can be divided into three disciplines:
For the first (trial) training loose sports wear will do. After that a combat sports suit is compulsary. Ask your instructor which suit you need. Karate suits and – fists are for sale at the Universum sports desk.
The USC instructors for Karate are Robbert Houtman and Jaap de Vries. Classes are supervised by Jaap de Vries, 3rd dan and federation examinator.
Are you a sports fanatic? Are you interested in various sports? The USC passe-partout is the right thing for you! Karate is part of the passe-partout.
