For athletics the USC cooperates with student athletics club Aquila and athletics club Phanos.
Aquila is the students athletics club in Amsterdam. It was founded in 2003 to enhance students athletics in Amsterdam. Recreative runners as well as (track)runners can become a member.
Running training Aquila
Every Thursday night we organise running training at the Vondelpark or in the Amsterdam forest. For track athletes we offer help in their research for a regular club in or around Amsterdam. We send representative participants to (student) athletics events such as Batavierenrace and the NSK teams. The training sessions take place every Thursday night. We gather at 19.00 in the Olympisch Stadion. Beginners as well as the more advanced runners are welcome. After training we serve a low fee meal.
Since the beginning of 2012 Aquila and Phanos decided to cooperate. Students at Phanos can get a free membership at Aquila and by doing so have all the benefits of this membership. Members of Aquila choosing for Phanos can join the Phanos training groups. Thursday evening is a regular students night in the bar of Phanos. Aquila personnel stands behind the the bar and after training and dinner you can get a drink and enjoy a little party.
A.V. Phanos is a relatively young athletics club, established from the merging of two other athletic societies. Within a short period of time Phanos grew into a large club with both professional athletes and amateur members. A considerable part of the senior groups consists of running groups, although the diversity in track and field training has grown considerably the last few years.
Track and field
For track and field athletes there is the possibity to train with the students group of Phanos to discover several elements of athletics, such as sprinting, throwing and jumping. There are special training groups for those wanting to train on a higher level.
